INTERNATIONAL CALL CONCERNING THE TARIQ RAMADAN CASE
An international appeal was sent to the Minister of Justice, Mrs. Nicole Belloubet, concerning "Tariq Ramadan case"
About 150 university Professors, intellectuals and internationally renowned activists, including a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, have signed this Call. They directly appeal to the French Minister of Justice to uphold her responsibilities and intervene in the procedure concerning Professor Tariq Ramadan’s case.
They note that the legal procedures do not meet the required conditions of impartiality. The judges, for example, commissioned a psychiatrist expert, Dr. Daniel Zagury, whose neutrality is arguable. The plaintiffs’ lies are ignored, as are the Criminal Division investigation’s findings. Professor Tariq Ramadan’s known enemies were not interrogated after more than two years of investigation.
The signatories appeal to the Minister of Justice: "Has Professor Ramadan been granted the equal treatment so prized by France (...). Is there one form of justice for Muslims in France and another for everyone else?" They are calling on her to implement a fair justice process and take the necessary steps to do so.
The first signatories of the International Call alert public opinion and expect the Minister to respond appropriately in the name of her "commitment to France's reputation as a defender of justice".
You will find attached the text of the Appeal as well as the list of the first signatories. You can contact FREE TARIQRAMADAN CAMPAIGN and the J.E.D. COMMITTEE (Justice-Equality-Law) at the following email address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
